Chapter 7: Spying on a Meeting

Ash trotted down the hall, feeling a bit embarrassed every time he recalled the hunt with Airia. Ergh, change the subject! Ash told himself. He began to think, and veered the subject towards Eclipse as he wondered if she was still mad with him. Maybe, maybe not, she seemed dedicated towards defeating the Firebenders... Ash shrugged. He perked his head as he saw Eclipse and Charlotte coming down the hall, both girls giggling about something. Ash noticed Eclipse seemed deliberately trying to not make eye contact with Ash; she didn't even look his way. Charlotte, however, flashed him a smile as she walked by, and the two girls walked down the stairs and into the yard. Eclipse is still angry with me, Ash concluded. He somewhat assumed Charlotte possibly loved him. She's not gonna like me complimenting Airia on her flying skills.
Ash sighed and walked down the hall, and looked down the stairs. He didn't feel like going hunting quite yet, as he just did, and the thought of hunting made him remember his hunt with Airia. Recoiling a the thought, Ash turned around. Maybe I can go visit Airwing, Ash thought, heading down the hall.
However, he perked his ears when he heard a voice.
"...Airia...she..." was all Ash could make out, and if was coming from behind him. Bristling, Ash whipped around and headed for the voice. Not Airia, whoever you are! He thought angrily, knowing it probably wasn't something good.
Ash halted as he heard the voice again from inside the room in front of him. He could detect Fang's rough voice. "It's true?" he was growling. "Then she may be useful. We must not kill her, no matter what she does." Ash flinched. It was good that they weren't gonna kill Airia, but why did they not want to?
"Being a descendant from Goldwing and Airwing, they're all from the same descendants. Which means they'll all be useful. If two die somehow, we'll still have one more," came Wildfire's growl. Ash perked his ears. It had something to do with Airia's family, and Wildfire didn't include Goldwing's mate. It must be something they all have in common... Ash thought hard, wondering what it could be. He then grew wide-eyed. Well, duh! The wings! He thought, and focused on the conversation again.
"She's a good flier I hear," commented Miguel's voice. "Fireblade told me she can fly good." Ash flinched, feeling a bit of anger at hearing Miguel's voice, because he was a traitor. "So she has the skill of her ancestors."
"Skill of her ancestors"? Ash thought. It must have to do with her wings. Ash was beginning to put things together. They don't want Airia dead, and neither do they want Goldwing and Airwing dead. They need at least one alive. Something about her descendants, too, but what was so special about them?
"Oh," came Poisonfang's voice, "Ash also seems to be rather...protective of her, according to Hazen." Ash fought a growl rising in his throat at the thought of Hazen, and the fact that he told the Firebenders about his feelings about Airia, "he may be an obstacle."
"Like he already isn't," laughed Firetalon's voice. Some other Firebenders snorted and chuckled along with him. Ash grew wide-eyed and moved closer to the entrance. Why did the Firebenders see him as an obstacle?
"Oh yes, which reminds me. Firetalon, be a loyal warrior and go tell Ironfang..." Poisonfang lowered her voice to a whisper, and Ash leaned a bit closer to the entrance, and could only just make out Poisonfang's voice, "that he is the one 'destined to defeat us'."
Ash flinched, and then detected Firetalon coming. Oh, snap! Ash thought, turning to run, but Firetalon's voice stopped him. "Well, well, well, what have we got here?" he sneered, and Ash felt his heart bump faster. He yowled as Firetalon sunk his talons into his back and threw him into the room where the Firebenders were; all of them, too, and their evil faces looked excitedly down on Ash, obviously seeing this as an opportunity to do great harm. "Poisonfang, you decide what to do with this spy. I shall be on my way to tell Ironfang the news."
Ash grew wide-eyed as the Firebenders loomed over him, growling or hissing, some baring their teeth, as they saw Ash. Poisonfang slithered over to him. "Why, hello Ash," she smiled sweetly.
Oh.
No.

    1. I didn't delete it, it just has a different link now. I stopped AJ blogging because it was completely pointless to post the same thing other AJ bloggers posted every day.
