Chapter 8: Visiting Galmega

"Galmega!" Fan gasped, turning to her mate, Skyvie.
"Let us come," Skyvie requested.
"Of course," Goldwing nodded.
Ash took off, leading them into the tower. I've just became an apprentice, and there's already an attack on my mentor!
They finally entered the Medicine Benders' room. Airia looked up as they all entered. "He's still alive."
"He's knocked out though!" Skyvie snapped.
"Will he live?" Fan turned to Feather desparingly.
"Why doesn't anyone ask me instead of Feather?" Ash heard Eclipse mutter.
"I don't know," Feather admitted. "Fan, the best you can do for him is stay clam. If he wakes up and sees how nervous you are, it'll only make him feel worse."
Skyvie turned to his mate. "He will live." Ash could tell that Skyvie was trying to comfort himself as much as Fan.
Goldwing looked despaired. Airia walked up to her father and pressed against him.
Ash walked up to Galmega. "You will live, won't you?" he knew that his mentor couldn't respond, but somehow saying that comforted him.
"Galmega," Goldwing whispered. "May the Peacebenders let you live."
Peacebenders? That must be their heaven, Ash shrugged.
"Ash, Fan, Skyvie, Airia and Charlotte, I have to ask you to leave. Goldwing will stay with Galmega a bit longer, and will return soon," Feather nodded.
"I want to stay," Fan protested.
"Feather will call us back in when Galmega is healed, I am sure," Skyvie reassured Fan.
Fan sighed. "Feather, please let him live."
"I will do as best as I can," Feather promised.
Ash lead the visitors out of The Medicine Benders' room.
Did what Feather say was true? Will she do her best to recover Galmega?

Author's Note:
Ooh, tension! WILL Ash live?

Chapter 7: Working Together

"What do we do?" Ash gasped. Galmega was knocked out, and a bit of fire was on him.
"Put some water on him. It will douse the flames, but still hurt. The Medicine Bender can heal him," Charlotte explained.
Ash found a bucket in the corner. He grabbed it, and plunged into the tank.
Underwater, he opened his eyes. The hole at the bottom of the tank was huge. And under it, Ash saw that Alacazame was still there.
"I somehow knew you'd come in here to get water," Alacazame growled. He whirled his tail in circles.
Ash screamed, but underwater he could hear nothing. He fought to get to the surface.
The Great White had a fireball floating above his tail. But then, the fireball disappeared.
"What!" Alacazame snarled. "What happened to the fireball?!"
"You're underwater, stupid. When you threw that one fireball, you were above water!" Ash growled. He swam up to the surface of the water, and jumped out of the tank. Ash poured water on Galmega, and the flames went away.
"Now we need to take him to the Medicine Bender," Charlotte gasped.
"Put him on my back," Airia turned to her apprentice.
Ash helped Charlotte put the lifeless Galmega on Airia's back. Then, Airia flew down the hall, very quickly.
"Come on!" Charlotte nodded to Ash. She raced down the hall, Ash following, feeling his neck fur bristle with nervousness.
"Alacazame was under the tank when I saw him," Ash panted.
"He was?" Charlotte gasped, still running.
"Yeah, but he might have left," Ash replied.
They entered the Medicine Bender den. Galmega was laying down, Airia sitting down next to him.
"Ash, go get Goldwing and Fan," Airia glared at Ash.
Growling, Ash left the room. Airia still clearly hates me.
He ran out of the building, and into the yard. Students were training, and Goldwing was sitting next to Kabu.
"Goldwing! Galmega was attacked! A Firebender snuck in!" Ash howled.
"What?" Goldwing growled.
"No time to explain, just follow me!" Ash panted.

Author's Note:
What's going to happen next? Will Feather and Eclipse be able to heal Galmega?

Chapter 6: The Tour Continues

Galmega lead Ash and the others out of The Prey Room. The group went into the room across the hall, where a hawk was perched on a branch growing out of a tree outside the room. The branch reached inside the room, so the hawk was still inside.
"A hawk?" Ash looked up at Galmega.
Galmega nodded. "The hawk's name is Feather - she's our Medicine Bender. Her apprentice, that wolf, is Eclipse."
"Greetings," Feather had a calm voice. "Nice to meet you, Ash."
Ash nodded back. Eclipse was using her tail to make an herb rise into the air. The herb landed on a wolf mannequin.
"That's how Medicine Benders heal others?" Ash asked Galmega.
Galmega nodded. "If they just place the herbs on, they don't work. Using Bending to do it makes it work."
"Let's go to the next place," Airia growled. They went down the hall, all the way up (no more rooms where there) and they made a turn. They walked up some more stairs.
A bunch of mats were layed out in one, big room. There were two small halls on both sides of the room. There were three windows on the wall, all of them open.
"Here is the Training Room," Galmega announced.
"I prefer to train up here," Charlotte added.
Ash looked around. At the moment, no one was there.
Galmega lead them down the left hall. Charlotte was behind Ash, and Airia was behind Charlotte.
At the end of the hall was one room. It had a prey pile in the top right corner. Airwing was sleeping in the middle of the room. A big window was on the wall, and it was closed.
"The Elders' Room," Charlotte announced.
"Yes, Airwing is the only elder," Airia nodded. Despite the noise, Airwing still stayed asleep.
"Lets leave," Galmega suggested. They left the room. They went into the right hall, and at the end was yet another room.
There were many cells in this room. The place was cold. A huge water tank was next to all the 10 cells.
"Prisoner room...obviously," came Airia's voice from behind Ash.
"No prisoners yet?" Ash commented.
"Nope," Charlotte sighed.
"That's the end of the tour, lets-" Galmega was cut off by an erupting-like sound.
"What's happening?" Charlotte gasped.
Ash looked around the room. Airia had her tail around Charlotte, protecting her. Galmega was wide-eyed.
Then, the water from the tank began to splash. There was an evil laugh. Out of the ground of the tank came a huge shark.
"It's Alacazame!" Airia snarled.
"Who?" Ash turned to Airia.
Airia glared at Ash. "You heard me! Alacazame!"
"I have found your tower, have I not?" Alacazame growled. He had a deep voice, and was light blue with a white stomach.
"You! Leave the Bending Tower!" Galmega glared at the Great White.
"Don't tell me what to do!" Alacazame whipped his tail, around and around in the water. The fire from the nearest torch came off the wall. Before anyone could react, the fire had hit Galmega.
"Galmega!" Airia howled.
"Have a nice day!" Alacazame sneered, and he swam back into the hole of the water tank, disappearing.

Author's Note:
Oh no! A Firebender had shown up and blasted Galmega. What will happen next?!

Chapter 5: Tour Of The Tower

"Ash is weird."
"Yeah! And Goldwing let him join The Bending Tower?"
Ash woke up the next morning to noises. Two young wolf pups were talking to each other. One was dark gray; the other was dusty orange.
"Hey!" Ash growled. "Can't I get any sleep?"
Ash was a bit older than the wolf pups - they were 5 moons old. Ash was 6 moons. They had told him that yesterday.
"We're supposed to be awake already! Glad we woke you up," the dark gray one said.
Ash sighed. He wasn't warned that they had to wake up early. Usually, he'd sleep in until sunhigh. The sun wasn't even up yet.
"When is the sun going to be up?" Ash asked them.
"Come on, Rusty, you know," the dark gray nodded to the dust orange one. "I'm going to go training, bye."
Rusty sighed. "It will be up soon, we usually get up when the sun isn't visible yet, but almost is."
Ash, Rusty and Rusty's brother, the dark gray wolf were the only apprentices left in the Apprentices' Room. The two wolf pups had said they were given mentors. Ash didn't have one.
"We'd better leave," Ash nodded to Rusty. He padded out of the room, hearing Rusty following. When they made it to some stairs, Ash turned to him. "Can you show me to the yard?"
Rusty snorted. "You don't know the way?" He lead the way, and took Ash to the yard.
Around the yard, many of the Benders were sitting in a circle. Some of their eyes were closed, as if they were still very sleepy. A few were yawning.
Ash sat down in between Dust and Rusty. He was their same height, despite that he was older.
Kabu came out of the tower. He took a seat next to Dust. Kabu didn't look tired at all.
Moments later, although it seemed like moons, Goldwing stepped out of the tower. He stood in the middle of the yard.
"Good morning, Benders. We will resume training another day. Except," Goldwing turned to Ash, "this is Ash's first day."
Ash dipped his head.
"He does not have a mentor yet," Goldwing went on. "I will give him one. Galmega, you deserve to have an apprentice - you will train Ash in the ways of the Waterbending."
A peacock stepped out of the crowd. Ash studied him. Is that Fan's son?
"Thank you, Goldwing," Galmega nodded.
"Good job, Galmega," Fan nodded.
"Good luck!" Stone sneered.
Ash sighed, trying his best to ignore the grumpy raccoon. He turned to Goldwing, who was about to continue.
"Galmega, take Ash on a tour of The Bending Tower and our territory. Airia, you go too," Goldwing nodded to his daughter.
"But what about my apprentice? Charlotte? She needs to train," Airia protested.
"Take Charlotte with you. It'll be a good review," Goldwing nodded.
No one else heard it, but Ash heard Airia growl. Turning around, Airia lashed her tail and stalked off.
"Why is Airia so grumpy all the time?" Ash turned to Galmega.
"She's usually very nice," Galmega replied. "But her brother died because of a Firebender, and now she doesn't trust anyone, except for those she knows well."
Ash sighed. He shook his head, and followed Galmega into the tower.
Inside, the only place to go was a staircase. Galmega walked up it, and at the top were two ways to go - right or left. Galmega went left, and Ash was aware of Airia close behind him.
There was a long hall, and at the end was a dead end, with crane symbols on the wall. There were four rooms - two on one side, two on the other.
Galmega went in the first room. Swords, throwing stars, spears, and many more deadly weapons were in barrels. "This is the weapon room," Galmega reported. "We keep weapons here, which we mainly don't use - but sometimes they might be needed."
"I don't prefer weapons," Charlotte said. "I'd rather use Airbending!"
They went into the room across the hall, where Tiggerkat was sitting.
"As you know, this is the Travelers'-"
"Did you find any Reese Cups?" Tiggerkat asked eagerly.
"Er, no," Galmega studied Tiggerkat.
Tiggerkat sighed and looked out the window. "I'll never see another Reese Cup in my life!"
Airia rolled her eyes. Charlotte went up to Tiggerkat and patted Tiggerkat on the back with her tail. "It could be worse."
Tiggerkat looked at Charlotte. "No, it couldn't. I'm only fed prey and not Reese Cups!"
"Lets go," Galmega nodded to Ash. They left the room, and went to the next room across the hall. It had a lot of prey.
"The prey room....obviously," Airia rolled her eyes.
"Yes," Galmega gave Airia a cold stare. He turned to Ash. "We eat the prey here. It never seems to rot, this room is like Mt. Ice, it's so cold!"

Author's Note:
To be continued. Ash is going to be a Waterbender! I sometimes say, "Waterbender", with a lowercase "w", but now I'll say it with an uppercase. ^^

Chapter 4: New Name

Wolf waited anxiously. According to Kabu, Goldwing would be out any moment. Then, Wolf would be a member of the Bending Tower. After what seemed like hours of waiting, Goldwing came out of the tower. "All benders gather!"
Everyone ran up to Goldwing and sat down. Kabu signaled to Wolf with his tail for him to stand by Goldwing's side.
"Now, Wolf has said he wishes to join the Tower," Goldwing announced.
"And you agree?" Stone snarled.
Goldwing ignored her. "So I will re-name Wolf, who will become an apprentice."
Whispers rippled among the animals. Goldwing waited for silence.
"Hurry up!" A dusty wolf pup pleaded.
"Wolf's name has to change. I will change it to Ash, in honor of his dusty black pelt," Goldwing howled.
"Yay! Ash!" A gray wolf pup howled too.
Most of the students shouted Ash's name; some said nothing.
Some of these Benders are quite grumpy, Ash thought.
"Ash, what bending do you wish to learn?" Goldwing asked.
"Hmm," Ash cocked his head. There aren't many waterbenders. I'll do that. "I want to be a waterbender."
"Good choice!" Creature called out.

Author's Note:
The name Ash wasn't my idea. Thanks for the name, Padpad! ^^

Chapter 3: The Next Day

Wolf woke up the next day. He expected the sun to shine into his eyes and to hear birds, but he quickly remembered that he was in the Bending Tower.
Tiggerkat was sitting up and licking her chest. She arched her back in a stretch, and walked up to the window and looked into the distance.
I wonder what today will be like. Should I leave, or should I join the tower? Wolf thought. He walked over to Tiggerkat.
"When do we get to eat?" Wolf asked. I need breakfast.
Tiggerkat shrugged. "Soon, I guess. But they never have anything good! No Reese Cups! This place is insane!"
And so are you, Wolf bit back the retort. He just sighed and walked to the entrance. Then, he saw a brown monkey coming down the hall with a mouse in her mouth. Behind her was a ginger wolf, carrying a rabbit.
The monkey walked into the room, followed by the ginger wolf. "We brought you some food."
"Thanks," Wolf nodded.
The ginger wolf gave the rabbit to Wolf, and the monkey gave Tiggerkat the mouse. "She won't eat much anyway, her mind is fixed on Reese Cups," the monkey murmured to Wolf.
"Mystery! Don't be rude to guests," The ginger wolf whispered.
"Willow, Tiggerkat has got to stop thinking of Reese Cups when there is no Reese Cups," Mystery replied.
Wolf dug into the rabbit ravenously. He was starving; he hadn't got dinner the other day. Mystery and Willow left the room.
"Are we allowed to leave the room?" Wolf asked Tiggerkat. She knows more than me about this place; she's been here longer.
"Yeah," Tiggerkat replied. "But I prefer to stay here."
Wolf shrugged and left the room. He walked down the stairs that Creature had lead him up the other day. He headed down some more stairs and entered the yard.
A group of small animals were sitting in a circle. They were whispering, and when they saw Wolf, they started whispering even more.
His pelt hot with embarassment, Wolf walked to the side of the yard and sat down to watch the students.
A gray wolf with stars on her pelt was flipping, then landing gracefully on all four paws. She used her tail and moved it in a circle, and a dust devil appeared. Wolf was prepared to creep back, but the gray wolf jumped on the dust devil and made it bigger, and she rose into the air. Finally, the dust devil disappeared, and she was carried to the ground by a wind current.
This "bending", looks fun, Wolf thought.
A silver wolf with and orange and blue swirl under her eye was twirling her tail rapidly in circles. An air current blew her off her paws, and she did a back flip and landed in the air, riding it through the sky.
A black monkey raised her hands up, and a spot of earth moved up. After a while, the earth resumed its place. The black monkey looked frustrated, and she tried it again.
"What are you doing?" Came a growl.
Turning around, Wolf saw Stone standing there. "I'm just watching."
"I'd figure you'd be in your room, loner," Stone snarled.
"What's wrong with watching?" Wolf narrowed his eyes.
"Nothing, but keep your nose out of the students' pelts," Stone narrowed her eyes back, and she went into the yard, and started working.
Looks like even those finished training still practice, Wolf shrugged.
The door opened. Kabu came through, with Fan. Fan walked away and got her own space in the yard. But the white lion walked up to Wolf.
"Goldwing wants to know if you'd like to join the tower," Kabu announced.
Wolf hesitated. Should I leave the forest? Learn all this hard bending?
Finally, Wolf gulped. "S-Sure."
"Then Goldwing will re-name you soon, Wolf."

Author's Note:
So, looks like Wolf might join the tower! ^^ Tiggerkat seems a bit upset that no one at the Bending Tower likes Reese Cups.  Mystery is Goofy's character, Willow is bmr's character. The gray wolf with stars belongs to Galaxywulf.  The silver wolf is Padpad's character. But the black monkey belongs to me. Comments are much appreciated!

Chapter 2: The Traveler's Room

Kabu dipped his head to the golden-winged wolf. "I am sorry, Goldwing. He is a traveler in search of shelter, and-"
"No one is accusing you of being disloyal, Kabu," Goldwing nodded. He had a deep voice.  "We will let this wolf stay."
"Just for how long?" Airia growled.
Goldwing turned to her. "Airia, stop with this nonsense. He is a loner, he will do no harm."
"He could be a spy for firebenders!" Stone growled.
"Stone, your temper must be kept under control. Learn peace."
Behind Wolf, a white winged wolf came out into the yard. Stone quickly dipped her head to him. The white wolf looked old and very wise.
"Airwing, you should be resting downstairs. You need strength to fight the cold you have," Goldwing looked at the wolf.
"I couldn't help hearing that my grandson had called a meeting," Airwing gave a weak smile.
I guess the wings run in that wolf family, Wolf guessed. Airia must be related to Airwing and Goldwing.
"You can stay, Airwing, but return to your room after the meeting," Goldwing nodded.
Airwing walked along and sat next to a silver wolf.
Goldwing continued. "The wolf will stay, as I said. I expect no bad behavior toward him for not knowing about bending. If he wishes to learn the ways of bending, he will learn. Creature, Fan, can you show Wolf to his room?"
"Of course," the blue crocodile who Wolf had seen earlier, nodded. He walked up to Wolf. "Just follow me, ignore any rude remarks that any of the others make."
Creature tripped over a rock while leading Wolf towards the door. He recovered, then kept walking on.
Fan brought up the rear. Wolf felt like a prisoner in between the two animals. Creature lead them upstairs, and he turned left down a corridor.
"Do you think you will join?" Fan asked Wolf, breaking the silence. "If you do, Goldwing will give you a new name."
"I don't know," Wolf admitted. I'll just think about it.
They went up some more stairs, then turned right. Creature walked into a room, where there was a tiger with brown stripes napping away.
"This is the Travelers' Room," Creature announced. "Where those who travel shelter. We bring them in, and they stay until they are prepared to continue their journey."
"Excpet this tiger has been here quite a while," Fan grumbled.
The tiger woke up. "Did you call me a tiger? I'm a TIGGER! I got a bouncy tail, do tigers have that?"
"Her name is Tiggerkat," Creature said to Wolf.
"And she claims to be the last 'Reese Bender' left in the world," Fan rolled her eyes.
"I am!" Tiggerkat protested.
"Then why don't you bend any Reese Cups?" Fan retorted.
Tiggerkat rolled her eyes. "Duh, because there are no Reese Cups HERE!"
Creature sighed. "Better get used to her," he muttered to Wolf, "she's always wild."

Author's Note:
Guess whose character Tiggerkat is? ^^ It's my friend Tiggerkat's. So Wolf might join the Bending Tower, but for now he shares a room with Tiggerkat in the Travelers' Room.

Chapter 1: Mystery Animals

The sun rose, making the night sky turn a shade of pink. A blue jay tweeted his morning song. The forest began to come to life, the fish continued their great expedition upstream, deer began looking for a good breakfast, and the butterflies flew around, looking for flowers.
A tree shook, as a wolf jerked awake, his eyes adjusting to the sun's rays shining. He arched his back in a good stretch. Studying the ground, he spotted a mouse scuttling across some exposed tree roots.
The wolf jumped without hesitation, trying his best. Without knowing the proper way to hunt, he ate what he could get.
The mouse squeaked and tried to scurry off, but the wolf landed on the mouse's back, killing it with the impact.
Sinking his teeth into the mouse's back, he tasted how delicious the prey was. The wolf finished the prey quickly, and walked on, hoping today he could find some other wolves to help him.
The taste of the mouse quickly washed away. He trotted on, looking for any signs of life.
A twig snapped. The wolf whipped around. He couldn't see anything. Probably just my imagination.
But suddenly, there was a blow to the side of his body. In pain, the wolf fell to the ground, hitting the earth hard. A wolf as white as snow stood over him. The wolf gasped as he saw that his attacker had wings.
"What are you doing here?" The winged wolf snarled.
"J-Just traveling," The wolf whimpered.
"You have no right to be here," the winged wolf snapped. "Leave!"
"But-"
"Airia, what are you doing?" Came a new voice.
The winged wolf, apparently named Airia (air-eye-uh), whipped around. The wolf got to his paws quickly, seeing a lion coming through the forest. He was white with blue eyes, and he had a black mane.
"This...this wolf was in our territory, Kabu," Airia snarled to the lion.
The lion studied the wolf. "Hmm. That's nothing new, Airia."
"Apparently," Airia snarled. "Should we chase him out?"
The wolf gasped. "Please, I need your help." Maybe they can help me and provide some food.
Kabu hesitated, then nodded. "Very well."
"But Kabu!" Airia protested. "He might be a firebender spy!"
Kabu ignored Airia. He flicked his tail, and the wolf followed Kabu.
"So, wolf what is your name?" Kabu asked politely.
"I got no name," the wolf replied. "Everyone calls me, 'wolf'."
"Okay, we shall call you that too, then," Kabu nodded.
They lead Wolf into the undergrowth. The trees were taller around here.
Airia shot Wolf a glare as they came to a huge tower in the middle of the woods. It had a red roof, and the windows had designs on them. Inside, Wolf could see the shadows of other animals in there.
Outside the tower stood a blue peacock. She had a shade of green on her, with a green crest and white spots on her eyes. The peacock had a red kimono with gold outlining the bottom, and the edge of the sleeves. Two gold dragons were prined on it.
"Back, Airia and Kabu?" The peacock nodded.
"Yes, Fan," Kabu confirmed.
"I see you got company," Wolf had barely noticed the raccoon standing next to Fan. She showed Wolf her long fangs.
"Peace, Stone," Kabu told the raccoon calmly. "This wolf is only here for a short time. Nothing but a loner."
"So you say, but for all we know it could be a firebender," Stone hissed.
Kabu walked through the entrance. Wolf and Airia followed, Wolf bringing up the rear.
When they stepped through the entrance, they were in a room with mats everywhere. A crocodile was doing a roll, then jumping onto his tail. The croc did a flip and landed on all four feet.
A monkey was jumping up a tree, from branch to branch. She jumped to the top, and moved her hands in a graceful motion. A gust of wind came through and she rode on it to the bottom.
Only two animals? Wolf thought, confused. Wouldn't there be more?
Kabu lead Airia and Wolf through another door. They were outside. More animals were here. The ground had stones on it, with bits of grass growing out. Smaller parts of the tower surrounded the yard. Everyone was doing some kind of form, or talking with others.
"Benders! Gather!" Came a voice. A huge, golden wolf with golden wings stepped into the yard. All of the animals ran up. Even the crocodile and monkey from inside ran out.
The door opened behind Wolf. Fan and Stone stepped through, and joined the crowd.
"As you can see," the golden wolf began, "Kabu seems to have brought in an outsider."

Author's Note:
I tried to fit in as much characters as I could! Wolf is my character, and so is Airia (air-eye-uh). Kabu belongs to Fortis/MB2011. Fan belongs to Spino11. Stone belongs to Hamishcat. The crocodile is Creature Icyspirit's character, and the monkey is Goofy's. The golden wolf is also mine. Thanks for reading, long chapter, isn't it?

Prologue

Two young wolf pups ran down the path in the forest. The dusty brown chased the gray."Hurry up, Rusty!" The gray called behind him.
"I'm coming!" Rusty shouted back.
The two littermates kept running. The forest flew past them. Finally, they made it to a makeshift house, built by twigs and leaves.
The gray looked at his brother, smiled, then stepped inside. Rusty followed.
"Airwing! Airwing!" Rusty shouted.
"Airwing!" The gray pup echoed.
The two pups walked into the next room over. An old, wise wolf with big wings looked at the pups.
"What is it, young ones?" He asked gently.
"Airwing, tell us about bending! I can't wait to be a bender!" The gray jumped up and down.
Airwing smiled. "Patience, Dust. You are a pup, and it will be a while before you can learn to bend. Enjoy being a pup while you can.
Too many wise words, Dust rolled his eyes. "Please, just tell us about the history of bending!"
Airwing chuckled. "Fine, fine. I will begin," he coughed, then continued. "Back before any of us were born, four animals joined together. One looked like fire. Another looked like water. The 3rd looked like the ground, for it was brown. The 4th and final was white, like the air. All four of them sat beside the Eternal Fire Stone-"
"Eternal Fire Stone?" Rusty gasped.
"No one has traveled there in centuries!" Dust added.
"Remember, this was before any of us were born," Airwing pointed out. He continued. "They sat beside the Eternal Fire Stone. The Bending Spirit appeared above the Stone. It granted the four of them powers if they promised to use them wisely."
"But why are the Firebenders evil then?" Dust asked.
"I'm getting to that," Airwing nodded. "The fire wolf's son became evil. That is why the fire benders are evil. Before the first benders' offspring were born, they taught bending to animals worldwide."

Author's Note:
Yeah, I don't know the story of bending in the cartoons. I just made it up! ^^

Bending

Hello!
GreatShot here, with a new story blog. No, it's not about Warriors. It's about bending! Have you seen The Last Airbender, or The Legend of Korra?
Well, that's what this blog is about.
Except, the animals are the ones who are bending....
